My love and passion for travel was born, when in 1993 when I started organizing trips for friends on my own, whilst working as an au- pair in The Netherlands. I never intended to get into the travel business, but travelling had me captivated from the first time that I went abroad just after I left school and so when I returned home I did a national diploma in tourism.
During my studies I did voluntary work at Maties Travel in Stellenbosch. In 1995 I was offered a permanent position, and this is where I officially started my career in travel. During the four years of working at Maties Travel, I became responsible for all aspects of travel, and soon started my own Youth Club within the company; supporting my enthusiasm for travel with action.
And such was my passion for tourism that I then decided to broaden my horizon, and moved to London where I worked mainly in the corporate travel industry. While using London as a base I managed to visit 22 countries on 3 continents.
After travelling the world I was excited to bring as many people to the abundant rich and beautiful places in South Africa. And on my return to SA, I started to work for an inbound tour operator, realising that this was where my love for tourism lay.
Spending many hours in the travel industry I soon applied myself to discovering a niche market. Finally while on Safari with my boyfriend it dawned on me that I would love to assist travellers and especially honeymoon travellers to experience this beauty. Realising that the average tour operator did not quite have the enthusiasm and desire to ensure that a couple had the perfect day/special treatment that they deserved. And so Dream Destinations was born.
And today I find myself ever excited with the many stunning places and ways to enhance that perfect time that newly weds get to spend together.
